Frequently asked questions
Short factual answers about the product. Legal detail lives in Privacy and Terms.
What is PizzaCup?
PizzaCup is a web-based GPS and QR checkpoint race platform. Organizers create routes and invite participants; racers join in the browser, validate checkpoints, and see live rankings.
Do participants need to install an app?
No. Participants join from a phone browser using the event QR code or invite link.
Do participants need an account?
They only need an email address. Register through the invite link, or use the familiar Google or Apple sign-in.
How do I add PizzaCup to my phone home screen?
PizzaCup is a Progressive Web App (PWA). Add it once and open it like a native app — no App Store or Play Store needed.
iPhone (Safari): open pizza-cup.ch → tap Share → Add to Home Screen → Add.
Android (Chrome): open pizza-cup.ch → browser menu (⋮) → Install app or Add to Home screen → Install / Add.
How are checkpoints validated?
Each checkpoint has a GPS radius. If location accuracy is poor, racers can scan that checkpoint’s QR code instead.
Can organizers hide the next checkpoint?
Yes. Sequential reveal keeps the next destination hidden until the current checkpoint is completed.
Where can PizzaCup races run?
Anywhere participants have a browser and a usable location signal: cities, parks, campuses, bike routes, and walking courses.
How much does PizzaCup cost?
Starter is free for 1 race and up to 3 racers. Margherita is CHF 18 the first year then CHF 24/year for 5 races and 30 racers each. Family Pizza is CHF 35 the first year then CHF 49/year for 10 races and 50 racers each.
